Lorenzo de' Medici, known as The Magnificent (1449-1492), was the ruler of Florence during the golden age of Florentine Renaissance, enthusiastic patron of scholars and artists (such as Pico della Mirandola, Botticelli and Michelangelo).
Writer and poet himself, he was one of the most powerful politicians of Renaissance, for being the ideal humanist prince but also for his very capable and clever management of power and diplomacy. Still continuing the series of Medici collections, this is the new Visconti limited edition, dedicated to this great statesman of the XV Century.
The 8-sided faceted barrel of the penVisconti Il Magnifico Calacatta is made of Calacatta macchia oro marble - a Carrara white marble with golden veins, quarried in the Apuan Alps, synonymous with luxury and refinement, usually reserved for the most prestigious works of art.
The cap, the butt and all the metal trimmings are made of yellow gold-plated brass, which perfectly matches the warm tones of the marble striations.
The decoration is the same as that of the other pens in the Visconti Il Magnifico series, of Renaissance flavour (with the fleur-de-lis of Florence) chiselled using the ancient techniques handed down by Benvenuto Cellini, the famous goldsmith artist of the 16th century.
