The symbol of the pandemic, and of hope, in this Alessandro Salami's artwork
REBIRTH
Alessandro Salami started devoting himself to micro-drawing twelve years ago approximatively, developing an artistic pathway that brought him to experience several techniques and materials, and a passion for painting over pens.
The Rinascita pen is aerograph painted all over cap and body of a Parker Premium fountain pen. Each pen is hand painted, and signed by the artist in an edge of the cap.
Realized in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, which heavily affected the daily life, the work, the economy in all countries of the world, for millions of people.
The illustration on the barrel needs no explanation: the mask has become a constant presence for everyone at several moments of the day and is a symbol of commitment, self-denial and risk for some categories of people.
The painter Salami has reproduced on the barrel the face of a nurse, symbol of this tragedy but also of salvation, who watches over the world to save it.
Hence the name, Rebirth, to look to the future with hope.
In fact, on the cap, a symbol of rebirth is painted: a dove, carrying a golden rosary, giving light and hope to the world as a messenger of change, solidarity and peace.
Only non-toxic, acrylic colours have been used, and the process is completely hand made, even the final polish protective coating.
