On May 19, 1918, Alfredo Verga and his brother Eugenio founded a company located in Milan for the production of fountain pens, nibs and ink.
In 1918 the first pen was born and its name was Columbus Safety Pen No. 1, made in black ebonite.
After many years and ups and downs, through the war and the factory's destruction, the return to Milan and the owner's death, in 1992 the heirs made over the brand and the company to Santara.
Columbus is now one of the recognized Italian pens of unquestionable quality level.
