226 piecesThe Visconti's Homo Sapiens collection has always been characterised by unique materials: starting with the volcanic lava of the first Homo Sapiens Bronze model, which is still in production, up to this forged carbon, made from a combination of carbon fibre fragments and resin.
Visconti developed his research into an advanced material inspired by the manufacture of supercars, eventually obtaining an aesthetically unparalleled compound with an organic appearance: the fibres take on an irregular and dynamic pattern, and the gold leaf amalgamated within creates unique reflections.
The material seems alive and in motion, three-dimensional and almost holographic, just like the refined moiré fabrics from which it takes its name.
Visconti chose to leave the material as it is, without surface coatings.
As you run your fingers over the pen, in fact, you perceive reliefs and depressions, and a porous, irregular surface.
Forged carbon gives the pen lightness, and to emphasise this, the trimmings have also been lightened: they are made of grade 5 titanium, twice as light as brass or steel.
Thanks to controlled natural oxidation, the titanium parts have taken on the same shade as gold leaf without the use of paint. The natural colour can be seen in the laser engraving of the Visconti clip: the refined two-tone appearance is the result of removing the oxidation, which shows the titanium underneath.
All metal parts are protected by a very thin layer of transparent ceramic nano-coating, which stabilises the colour over time and protects against micro-scratches.
The collection includes fountain pen and roller.
